It’s unlike any school I’ve ever visited!
Corby Business Academy is straight out of Minority Report – an amazing building and an amazing library.
Amy McKay leads the library team and gave me a fantastic welcome – monkey-themed cupcakes and drinks, hand-cut monkey bunting… it was great fun!
As well as a talk to 250 students, I ran a workshop with Amy that was all about beginnings – the importance of opening sentences in books, opening shots in movies, and how these skills can be transferred to essays and business reports.
What’s really interesting is how imaginative the students were; huge exposure not just to books, but also to cinema, TV, games and websites like YouTube, seems to be building a generation that is unafraid of being bold. It was really encouraging to see.
