PARK STREET CEMETERY, KOLKATA

Whatever the Humans had meant this strange place to be, for monkeys it was perfect.  High walls kept out the chaos of the City, there were row upon row of small stone buildings to scramble over, and a thick canopy of banyan trees was just begging to be explored.

GIANT HANUMAN STATUE

Twitcher led them along a quiet backstreet which unexpectedly opened up on to a lush, circular park, in the centre of which was the biggest statue Papina had ever seen.  It was a huge figure, as big as a building, and incredibly it had a Human body but the head and tail of a monkey.

MONSOON

This was the most dangerous season for monkeys, when rain pummelled down, wild and unpredictable, stinging like thorns; when storm gullies were monstrously transformed into raging torrents, hurtling unlucky monkeys to their deaths.
